Best Mother’s Day I could ask for!!!
Oh my goodness you guys! You are in for a treat. Let me tell you how special my Mother’s Day was this year. Well, let me back up a little bit. A few weeks before Mother’s Day approached, I was putting together and advertising Mommy and Me Mini sessions at my studio. Through Facebook advertising I had someone call me and ask if I would be willing to do one of these mini sessions in the NICU as a Mother’s Day present for her brother and sister in-law. She went on to tell me that she would be able to hold her 23 week daughter Clara for the first time on Mother’s Day. She had no idea that she was calling the Miniature Miracles owner. I told her without a doubt I would do it and it would be at no charge. Because that is what Miniature Miracles is all about. As soon as she realized that I was the photographer behind the Hall of Hope in our NICU and Minature Miracles we were both brought to tears that we could make this happen.
Walking in to the NICU on Mother’s Day brought a sense nastlagia to me. From walking in and scrubbing for 3 minutes, to seeing the nursing on staff, and hen finally seeing baby Clara. The tears started rolling when I looked at this beautiful baby as she fights with determination to join her family at home and remembering my own journey I went through. I am so excited to tell you, that I will be following their story of her recovery and stopping by here with updates on her own journey. There will be links that you can go to where you can learn how to help this family out and see the road they are traveling through their eyes. Without keeping you waiting, I’d like to now share their story with you!
~In the sweet words of Clara’s mother, here is her story~
“Baby Clara came into the world at a gestational age of 23 weeks. She was 1 lb 7 oz and 12.5 inches long.
Her parents had waited 8 long years to have her, loosing two baby girls three years previous.
Clara being so young was called a micro-preemie. She’s required a lot of help to stay alive such as;
medication, breathing machines, tests of all kinds, Doctors and a one on one nurse. There have been a lot
of ups and downs like there are with every preemie.”
“…Some nights her parents thought they would have to say goodbye. Clara made it through pneumonia and
many more breathing difficulties. She has progressed through three types of breathing machines.
She is now 2 months old or 32 weeks gestational age. 3 lbs 10 oz and is 15.5 inches long”
“…Some of the things her parents have enjoyed along the way are:
*Her receiving a name and a blessing
*When they held her for the first time 21 days after her birth
* Her first cry when the ventilator tube was removed
*And her first bath”
“Clara has quite the feisty personality. She loves to move and have her hands above her head.”
“…She loves lots of people talking and fussing about her. She loves being held by mom and dad daily.
And she loves sucking on her binkie.”
WHAT AN AMAZING STORY RIGHT?!?!?!?!?!?
Also I wanted to add that the ring around her little wrist is her father’s wedding ring <3
